31 years in the same office location proves patience and determination, but at one point the office space that for many years had managed color film processing, digital scanning, paper catalog storage, etc, was simply no longer suitable for the present requirements for IT developments, communications, websites and virtual business models. This is why age fotostock decided to move to a new location.

P99 (99 Pallars Street) is the new centre for professionals in 22@ district, Barcelona, a district of excellence with clusters of nearly 2,000 highly dynamic firms in the fields of media, energy and design. 22@ is the most important project of urban transformation in Barcelona in recent years, transforming two hundred hectares of industrial land of Poblenou into an innovative district offering modern spaces for the strategic concentration of intensive knowledge-based activities.

Sprung from a determination to unite the business community in the area, P99 is a modern building which conveys and sustains well-being. It is spacious and bright and is located in a site which provides a high quality of life due to both the vitality and the tranquility of its surroundings. This makes it an ideal setting to develop forward thinking projects and business activity.

“At some point,” says Alfonso Gutiérrez, CEO of age fotostock, “you have to be within the culture you belong to, and as we are well immersed in developing the technology suitable for close to 90 distributors around the world, we are delighted be moving into an environment alongside our contemporaries in similar fields.”

We are constantly asked by photographers to provide them with image ideas for shoots that will be relevant according to current market needs. Here you have one idea for which there is always a great demand.

¿Do you have kids in your family, close circle of friends or acquaintances? Yes? Then you are so lucky, not only because they sure make life more fun, but because the daily life of children, with their routines and activities can be a great source of very interesting moments to photograph, especially to make natural images that show emotions. The children don’t have to be the cutest ad-perfect-kids; you just need know how to bring out their expressivity, whether humoristic  or completely the opposite.

Take the following essential points into consideration before you get started:

  • Model releases, model releases, model releases!!!! Even if the kids are your nieces, godsons or your best friend’s first child, to make your images available for the market, and to avoid any legal complications in the future, make sure that you have the model releases signed by their legal guardian.  See the model release section of our Road Atlas  and pay special attention to the paragraph regarding minors Model Releases.
  • Be very careful of how the children are portrayed, as the most innocent of the images can be considered highly suggestive for some. And always remember this: ABSOLUTELLY NO NUDITY. Images of naked or semi naked children will not be accepted.

So here is a list of ideas based on an ordinary day of any kid that we hope serve you as a source for inspiration.

  • Wake up is a beautiful morning! - Morning routines
  • Lunch time!- During the day
  • Home Sweet Home -Afternoon/Evening
  • Winding Down - Night time

The gallery ADORABLE CREATURES is a sample of children images that can be found at age fotostock that we are hoping will serve you as an additional source of ideas.

What is inspiration? Wikipedia (who else do you turn to when you need reliable information?) tells us:
Inspiration may refer to:

  • Artistic inspiration, sudden creativity in artistic production
  • Biblical inspiration, the doctrine in Judeo-Christian theology concerned with the divine origin of the Bible
  • Creative inspiration, sudden creativity when a new invention is created
  • Inhalation, the movement of air into the lungs

Well, hold the presses, there’s another Inspiration in town.  Inspiration is the new collection at age fotostock of our best creative, authentic, imaginative, artistic, relevant and all around inspiring images.  It is a collection of images chosen to awaken creativity and to inspire you.

We believe that now, more than ever, clients want to see images that are different, images that stand out from the stocky masses, images that show artistic, creative and technical excellence.  We aren’t in a utopia, we know that the market will continue to consume predictable, mediocre and unoriginal images (especially if they’re cheap), but we think that they need to find the Inspiration images too.  Up till now, those images weren’t always easy to find among the others, but now there’s Inspiration.

Inspiration is good news for our clients and it's good news for you, our photographers.  This collection is made up of carefully chosen agefotostock RM and Pixtal RF images which are branded “Inspiration.” Some of you might have noticed the new green “Inspiration” mark appearing below some of your images.  Congratulations, that means you’re in.  This collection only contains the work of age fotostock photographers, so your images will enjoy a special showcase that doesn’t include the millions of photos of our image providers.

What more to say?  How do you see which of your images have been chosen for Inspiration?  We’ll talk more about that next week.  What does Inspiration look like?  Be sure to try out the “Inspiration only” search on our new and improved homepage and take a look at this book.  Turn the page.  Be inspired...

The number of images received from photographers the first working week of 2011 has decreased by 6.16% compared with the same week in 2010; however, the number of photographers sending images has increased by 61.61%. In other words, we see more photographers sending smaller selections of images, more frequently. Is something changing?

Our acceptance rate has also increased, growing from 36.05% to 47.17% during the same time period. Clients want to see new content everyday and among some photographers, quality is increasing. If the acceptance rate for any submission sent to us is over 47.17%, you are actually doing very well. Congratulations!!

However, one wonders, how can photographers possibly think that selections of dull and uninteresting images like these below have good sale possibilities? The old rule in stock photography has always been “Color, color, color, and more color.” Are certain photographers suffering from color blindness?

There is another kind of color blindness that we observe among other photographers. Time and time again, they send us underexposed images like the ones below.  Are they working with the correct screen gamma?

Understand that if your images don’t have well-photographed and interesting subjects with strong color and saturation, they won’t sell. A surprisingly high number of photographers don’t take the time to finish and polish their work.

I think it’s time to wake up, Friends, because I must say: many of the photographers sending images for age fotostock, and surprisingly, for easyFotostock, understand color very well. Their images are highly saturated and colorful, probably something that some of them have learned in the highly competitive microstock market.

Well, Photographers, not all is lost, at least many shooters have learned to create bright and highly colorful images. Why not all of you?

Do you remember how we asked for Christmas images a few weeks ago in our Stock Photographer´s Calendar?  Here’s what we do with seasonal images:  we create a special gallery for clients to tempt them with the perfect images at the right time.

All of the images in this Top 10 come from easyFotostock, our Low Budget RF collection, which has grown exponentially this year with quality content from long-time age fotostock/Pixtal contributors, new photographers from the microstock world, such as Yuri Arcurs, and partner image agencies too.

Photographers that are interested in easyFotostock should consider how to produce good images on a low budget.  As you can see, most of these Christmas images involve minimal sets and props, which is one way to keep the costs low.  If you are interested in sending images for easyFotostock, download the easyFotostock contract  here (bottom of the page).

Otherwise, enjoy our holiday moments and start thinking about your wish list for Santa… a new camera with full HD Video ability maybe?
